Making sustainability work on campus requires collaboration and cooperation. The STF meetings inform you of what’s planned and happening and give you a voice on campus regarding sustainability and the environment.

  1. Distinguished Environmentally Conscious Students of Ohio Wesleyan University,

My name is Liam McIlroy, a senior Environmental Studies major from Denison University, and I am cordially inviting you to participate in something truly extraordinary.

Allow me to present to you the Ohio Five Student Coalition for Climate Action or OFSCCA. This student coalition will finally establish the unification of student activists from the member schools of the Ohio Five Consortium: Denison University, Kenyon College, Oberlin College, Ohio Wesleyan University, and the College of Wooster.

Our main objective for the first year is the successful management of a climate convention similar to that of the bi-annual PowerShift Conference. Obviously ours would be on a much smaller scale, but the ultimate goal would be the same—providing a platform for student-activists of great privilege and resource accessibility to engage and interact with one another. Through these focused discussions, our ultimate goal is to formulate tangible solutions to address campus sustainability issues and contribute in broader fight for climate justice. That being said, the Denison OFSCCA team will handle the planning, logistics, and operation of this first convention, but we would love your input! What we would need from the OWU OFSCCA delegation is as follows:
    1. Assemble a team of environmentally-motivated students that will officially represent Ohio Wesleyan
    2.    Creation of a 15-minute presentation on campus sustainability initiatives
    3.    Attend the first annual OFSCCA Convention!

At your earliest convenience, I would love the opportunity to share in more detail our vision for this project and offer support for the implementation of OFSCCA on your campus!

At a time of great political and social turmoil, we need unification and concentrated mobilization more than ever before. The time is now!

Thank you for your time. We are looking forward to hearing from you very soon!

    Best,
    -Liam McIlroy
